SBHC 5's vs Maidenhead Monarchs
Back to back wins for the 5's!
South Berks 5's faced a late push back against Maidenhead Monarchs at Birch Hill, as memories of Halloween faded, this definitely wasn't the graveyard shift for the 5's, whilst most were out watching fireworks the 5's got busy setting the pitch alight.
The new formation of 5 across the middle that worked so effectively the week before once again gave South Berks plenty of attacking guile and it wasn't long before they went ahead through a neat finish from Hadley.
For long periods it was all South Berks and the inevitable 2nd goal went in with Hadley claiming his 7th of the season. This was followed fairly swiftly with their 3rd when Williams smashed the ball into the bottom corner. 3-0 at half time and everything was looking good for the 5's.
Maidenhead's team talk at half time showed them come out with more attacking intent, stringing together some nice moves and forcing a couple of short corners, but the back three and Richard Lee in the South Berks goal were more than a match for their best attempts.
Maidenhead's press forward left them more exposed at the back and a quick break from South Berks resulted in Sansome getting on the score sheet for South Berks 4th.
To their credit Maidenhead didn't give up and their persistence paid off with them pulling back a goal from a well worked short corner. But, in the end their mini revival was all in vain as another quick counter attacking move ended with Peddie shooting from far out on the right hand side. It looked like his shot was goal bound as the keeper was left stranded but Price made sure, smashing the ball home for South Berks 5th and fully ensuring the 3 points were safe.
South Berks rocket up the league with that win and with their new found confidence look forward to their next match against the yet to be beaten Wootton Wanderers 2s.
