Hornets started slowly and suffered a set back in the first 10 minutes when Anis suffered a torn achilles. With everyone being a bit rusty it was Winchester who pressed hard and were rewarded with a well taken goal following some poor marking. Hornets started to take control of the midfield with hard work by Monty and Jas putting some good counter attacks together for Dave and Seb to take advantage of. Despite this it was Winchester who capitalised on a mistake at the back to bludgeon their way through to a second goal. After this it was Hornets who had all the possession and pressure with Winchester making a few rare forays forward which were snuffed out by Paul, Andy and Rob. In the second half Winchester packed the defence and made it difficult for Hornets to break through. With Nigel K and Graham probing the defences there were only a few opportunities for Roland to strike at goal. Hard work by Dave and Seb kept up the pressure and succeeded in getting some short corners towards the end of the game but Hornets were unable to capitalise.
