Few opportunities, more injuries

Following a nightmare journey the vets rushed onto the pitch and struggled to get into their stride. An early cross by Horsham beat 4 hornet defenders to allow Horsham an easy tap in. Then ten minutes into the game Dave suffered a pulled thigh so the hornets effectively went down to 10. The vets squad is gradually suffering attrition each week like an Agatha Christie novel. But gradually nigel king and Andy started to make some excellent tackles and interceptions to allow Jas and Seb to start to control the midfield. But Horsham's defence were sound and kept hornets at bay despite continued pressure. Hornets only reward was 2 short corners with no tangible reward.
The second half was more controlled but became a mid field battle with nigel M and Paul putting in a sterling effort. Defensively hornets were in control with Rob and Graham tidying up any attacks with Phil in goal making some solid saves and clearances. Unfortunately lack of a supporting forward meant the Roland was having to work hard to hold up the ball to wait for support. In the end the game proved too even handed and Horsham were not going to give the hornets any opportunities. A enjoyable game played in good spirit.
