Full squads battle it out for supremacy

With 15 players available and willing it was always going to be a bit of disruptive day. but it started well with some strong attacking play by the Hornets down the left with the two Nigel's combining well with Seb to create a number of opportunities which eventually brought the first goal, a scrambled affair which Paul Emmerson finished off. Haslemere responded and took advantage of the Hornets changes in defence by scoring two quick goals to take the lead. Undeterred Hornets kept up the attacking pressure and gained a series of short corners one of which Mark calmly stroked in to equalise.

despite some good tackling and cover by Paul Wilkins and George in defence , Haslemere scored again early in the second half. Thereafter there came a battle in the midfield with Jas showing some great touches to keep the passing fluid and put pressure on Haslemere creating a number of short corners but without reward. But it was a fine individual effort by Duncan that allowed Hornets to equalise. With both sides playing good counterattacking hockey it was Haslemere who went into the lead from a break away with a lucky lobbed shot beating Phil who had earlier made some good saves. Despite this Hornets kept up the attacking play. Hornets fourth goal was a superb move from a sixteen with five passes finding a cross to Roland who scored with aplomb on the volley. A ggod game played in fine spirit.
