Bracknell started strong taking the lead in the first 5 minutes with a clean ball delivered across the face of the goal by Dash Heaver and a composed finish by Liz Goodey. The short corners kept coming for Bracknell in the first half and saw a number of chances for the ladies, a well-structured routine eventually resulted in the second Bracknell goal converted by Lorna Palmer at the far post.
Maidenhead kept their heads up and remained strong, coming back with two goals before half time from balls given away by the Bracknell team in quick succession provided Maidenhead with a confidence boost before half time.
Following a required re-focus from the coaches, Mike Gray and Martyn Palmer, at half-time the Bracknell team came out fighting for the win. Caroline Apsey deflected Laura Mawhinney’s ball in to the top right corner of the goal and put Bracknell back on top. A composed team effort saw great link-up play between Holly Bentley and Kelly Hancock through the centre of the pitch gave, star of the match, Lorna Palmer her second goal in the game and the Bracknell Ladies a flying start to their season with the next game at their Birch Hill home to Henley Ladies 2’s at 3.00pm.
