Feeling somewhat crestfallen after last weeks defeat to Amersham, in a game where victory could have easily been attained, Bracknell advanced onto the battlefield with unwavering fortitude.

As anticipated the Oxford University opposition were youthful, athletic and robust, certainly formidable opponents that would test the credentials of the well seasoned Bracknell squad but, a win was the only outcome that this resilient home side would entertain.

The previous weeks disappointment was soon a distant memory just minutes after pushback when Becky Wyatt, stunned her former squad with a 5th minute opener. The tenacious midfielder charged forward onto a impeccably placed ball from Kelly Hancock, the precision of her first touch took the ball beyond the keepers reach and granted her the opportunity to introduce the ball to the back of the net. 1-0 Bracknell.

It was a goal that set the home side well on their way to a comfortable victory. Oxofrd Uni unable to settle into any sort of pattern were out-muscled by the Bracknell squad who comfortably repressed the endeavours of the ardent scholars. Bracknell frequently infiltrated the Oxford defence with hostile intent but, far too often the ball eluded the outstretched arms of the menacing attacking troops. This was most certainly not an evenly matched affair, although you would be forgiven for thinking so, the first half coming to a close with an insipid half time score of 1-0.

The second half started much like the first finished as Bracknell continued to mount on the pressure, camping in the Oxford half they comfortably stifled any attacking invasion from the opposing force. As the minutes ebbed by, the home side grew more and more restless, eager for their second goal of the game. A rare attacking attempt From Oxford was quickly muzzled by Sweeper Holly Bentley who calmly intercepted a searching ball and united with with Lorna Palmer they became an unassailable attacking pair. Palmer eyed a hungry and insuppressible Hancock, who drove onto a precision pass, deflected it with her first touch and united it with the backboard.

The final goal in the 3-0 victory came from a well worked short corner. An impeccable injection by Palmer was met by Yellie Powely who eagerly awaited it's arrival at the top of the D and calmly redistributed it to Wyatt on the far right. An unrestrainable interchange, back to Powley, finished with the ball purposefully shipped back to Palmer, who made no mistake in firing the ball into the back of the goal from an incredibly acute angle.
