On the back of a disappointing loss last week, determined not to let it happen again, Bracknell came out ready for a tough game.

Oxford Hawks had also come down from the South league at the end of last season, so it would be a tough task.

In the 1st half Bracknell soaked up a lot of pressure, with great defending from the back line marshalled by captain Marcia Clapson. Joy Westlake making her debut with the side coped admirably with the pace and put in a promising performance in the midfield which bodes well for the future. There were a few chances from Hawks at goal but none were successful and at half time the score remained 0-0.

Bracknell created some delicious opportunities in the 2nd half, with a couple of short corners, producing two great saves from their keeper and balls screaming passed the posts begging for a deflection from high forwards Kelly Lockyer, Caroline Aspey and Katja Challen.

As the game reached its climax, Hawks won a succession of short corners of their own, but some tenacious work once again from Bracknell’s defence ,lead brilliantly by MoM Jen Sawyer in goal, kept the visitors out, and secured a much needed point.
