In a frustrating but evenly paced local derby Bracknell Ladies 1's lost out by a single goal to Wokingham on Saturday.

The visitors started the game rather better than their local opponents - however Bracknell gradually worked their way into the game and the defence made sure that few of Wokingham's attacks ended in shots on goal. The few that did were confidently kicked away by Jen Sawyer in the Bracknell goal. The home side warmed to their task transferring the ball across the back and attacking down the flanks. A cross from the right was collected by Kelly Lockyer in the circle - she unselfishly passed to team mate Gemma Mclean - who was in a better scoring position - but Mcleans shot went excruciatingly close but wide of the left hand post. All honours were even at half time with 3 points to play for.
Bracknell started well pressurising the Wokinghan defence with a number of great crosses from Dash Heaver on the right which screamed across the goal begging for a deflection from a diving Bracknell forward as the GK was beaten and the goal vulnerable. It was not to be - Wokingham counter-attacked dominating the mid-field for periods of the second half but the Bracknell defence were determined not to be breached and made tackle after tackle to keep the opposition at bay. 15 mins into the second half a Wokingham attacker broke through into the circle, the ball was deflected into Gemma Mclean's face, fell back into the path of the attacker who pounced and put it in the goal whilst McLean was out of the game holding her split lip together. Despite the facial injury the goal was deemed legal and Bracknell had to deal with not only going a goal down but losing their fastest defender to the long queues in A&E. Despite the double set back Bracknell pulled together and tried to re-dress the balance - but when defender Becky Peatfield had to be subbed off for attention and Sam Hall was struggling with a knee injury, Bracknell could not summon the strength to score the equaliser. Once again luck does not seem to be with the side - but morale was still high and man of the match Captain Marcia Clapson, having lead by example, praised her team for not giving up and for working at full pace for the full 70 minutes.
