Starting slightly sloppily, they soon realised that this was not going to be an easy target to achieve. Strong defending from Alison Eatwell, guesting back in defence, meant early chances for the home team were averted.

Trying to get a grip on the game Bracknell played the tight game well. Nevertheless there were chances for Oxford including one that man of the match Jenny Sawyer managed to tip around the post and another hitting the cross bar. This seemed to energise Bracknell and with some smooth passing they moved the ball up the pitch to Caz Apsey who with only the keeper to beat, coolly put the ball in the back of the net.

This lifted Bracknell further until influential attacker Kelly Lockyer took a big hit to the knee and was sadly taken off. With only 11 players left, this meant the away team had a tough challenge to see out the game. Half time couldn’t come quick enough.

With a chance to get a breather and take stock, Bracknell went into the second half looking to increase the lead. However, it didn’t take long for Oxford Uni to break them down and press forward. Bracknell however were resolute in defence with everyone working literally until they could run no more. There were a few break away chances to try and increase the lead but the majority of the game was about closing Oxford Uni down. Eventually the final whistle sounded and the Bracknell had kept a clean sheet meaning the three points and another position in the table gained. They had fought a very tough game, taken their chances and played with total commitment. This was a much improved side from the beginning of the season.
