In a fast and well contested game, maidenhead took the win by the narrowest of margins 1-0 at south berks home ground.
South Berks came Out of the blocks with purpose and put the visitors in the back foot from the start.
For the first ten minutes south berks dominated and attacked with purpose. Using the flanks with jo partridge, Ally miller and Yellie Polley-Williams working the ball out of defense and releasing holly Bentley and kelly Hancock to pressurize the maidenhead defense. Holly picked up a loose ball and shot high to the
Right, which the keeper had to parry away.
Maidenhead struggled at times to get the ball through south Berks defensive ring, expertly marshalled by Laura Mawhinney.
0-0 at half time.
After the half time chat by coach Luce streak south Berks came out with drive and pressure. However Maidenhead had changed their formation and began to move the ball more decisively exploiting channels down the middle of the pitch and using the overhead ball to good effect to release their forwards.
The goal came after a messy breakdown in the circle with the Maidenhead forward spinning on the ball and slotting it passed the keeper.
South Berks continued to fight but on several occasions failed to make the final crucial touch in maidenheads D.
The final whistle blew and sadly Maidenhead won 1-0!
South Berks are looking forward to the rematch !
