Bracknell Ladies II travelled to Sonning with one thing on their minds – 3 points. A preseason friendly brought Bracknell out on top and Sonning were determined to overturn the last match and bring victory to their side

Bracknell Ladies II V’s Sonning Ladies 4's

.

The play was fast and fluid and Bracknell put the pressure on. Their reward came 20 mins later when Becky Wyatt dodged through defence and slotted the first goal into the back of the net. Sonning came back fighting and Bracknell’s jubilation was cut short when Sonning equalised 5 mins later with some excellent passing along the wing and a conversion that would have made any team envious.

Bracknell were not to be deterred and continued attacking with two more goals coming before 30 mins were up one from Becky Covney and one from Nicola Johnson. Sonning pushed their attack forward only to miss pass in the Bracknell 25. Bev cleared the ball up the wing helped out by Fiona in Mid field and with some excellent passing by Liz and Zoe Maria Russo found herself in the D with the ball and expertly bypassed the keeper for Bracknell’s fourth goal in 15 mins.

Bracknell was on top of the world at half time and determined that this would be their first win of the season. The second half started very different to the first with a rejuvenated Sonning pressing their attacks and advantage early on in the second half. Lyndall make some stunning saves in goal as her skills were stretched to the limit. The back line of Tracey, Bev and Becca had their hands full. However mid field tracked back and supported defence and they were kept at bay.

Sonning played the second half like a team possessed. They pressed their advantage at every turn keeping the midfield and defence on their toes for the remainder of the match. Several good breaks from our younger players Sophie and Georgia came close to increasing the score for Bracknell but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net.

This was the last match for the 2013/ 2014 season for Nicola Johnson who is traveling to Australia for a year and will continue her training there. She ended her season for Bracknell with a goal and we wish her more goals in the Southern Hemisphere.

One of our younger players Goergia Action got girl of the game for her efforts in midfield which kept the opposition out of our D and for her excellent crosses into the D in her efforts to increase the score. Courtney Eatock as righ back got Wally of the Week for tripping up in the D – luckily she had cleared the ball beforehand!

A well-deserved win for Bracknell Ladies II saw them climb a position in the table. We are determined that we will continue the winning form.
