Bracknell started off well, with goal from Gemma Mclean in the first 15 minutes of play. There was no time for slacking though, with Amersham & Chalfont 3’s fighting back strongly and keeping Bracknell on their toes.
Bracknell appeared to be certain of a victory half way through the second half, with the opposition showing no signs of any goal opportunities. Unfortunately, with just ten minutes of game time left, Amersham & Chalfont scored making the scores level at 1 – 1. Bracknell had to raise the bar and hoped for another goal to sneak back into the lead, but in the end had to concede to a draw.
A well deserved girl of the game went to Gemma Mclean, with Helen Goodall a close runner up for her dogged game play from start to finish. A Big Thank You goes to Joy Westlake for stepping forward at the last minute to play in goal, and also to Kelly Lockyer and Caroline Apsey for their much needed encouragement throughout.
Although Bracknell had a strong side on paper, they didn’t quite have the edge to get the victory they deserved. They hope for better in next week’s match against City of Oxford Ladies at Birch Hill.
