Starting with a new, more attacking formation Bracknell were hopeful that they could get a goal quickly. However, after 20 minutes of play Bracknell found themselves 2-0 down so the team reverted to their more familiar 4-4-2 line up. As the sun came out, Bracknell’s play improved and Lorna Palmer demonstrated some excellent skill, putting the ball in the back of the net from a short corner to make the half-time score 2-1. Bracknell continued to dominate the second half and after numerous shots on goal, Joy Westlake lifted the ball over the goal keeper to score the equaliser. Over the next 15 minutes Bracknell continued their unrelenting pressure on a flagging Harlow side and eventually their efforts paid off, with Lorna Palmer scoring her second goal of the game. With just twelve minutes left of the game, Bracknell’s defence and stand in goalkeeper worked hard to ensure they did not drop the two points. The final score was a well deserved 3-2 to Bracknell, a result which takes them out the relegation zone. There were many notable performances but it was goalkeeper Darcy Kaye who emerged as girl of the game. A jubilant Bracknell side look ahead to next weeks game versus top of the table side Reading.
