South Bucks 2: 0
Bracknell 2: 1
Bracknell scorers: Shaun McInnes
With their MBBO division 4 status secured, and their opponents South Bucks all but relegated, this final game of the season was effectively a dead rubber, and Bracknell appeared to show as much enthusiasm for it as one would show to a dead mouse in a loaf of bread. Which is not much. On what must have been the hottest day of the year so far, Spring having made a belated appearance, Bracknell appeared to wish they were somewhere else enjoying the sun. It was a sluggish disjointed performance from the visitors, and it was only the poor quality of their hosts that prevented Bracknell from suffering a heavy defeat. As it was, they won by a single goal from Shaun McInnes, whose goal was the sole highlight of an otherwise dreary affair.
The three points that the win brought them lifted Bracknell up to seventh in the table, albeit they could drop down to eighth once West Hampstead have completed their fixtures. Either way, it’s a superb outcome to a season in which Bracknell had the dark spectre of relegation hanging over them for much of it.a
