An injury crisis in the Bracknell first team meant that Bracknell were shorn of three decent players, but were fortunate enough to collect two quality players from the third team, in the shape of Alex Light and Jon Brayshaw. The elevated players joined seamlessly with the rest of the team, and Bracknell raced into a three goal lead. Alex Page got his first two goals for the club, with two tap ins completing some excellent build up play, most notably from Sean Mcinnes for the second goal. For the third, it was Mcinnes who was the beneficiary of a good build up, this time from Sean Hardingham who hit a ball into the D at pace, and Mcinnes beat the keeper to the ball to score a fine goal.
Not content to leave all the attacking work to the forwards, right back Ashley Holden provided the assist for Peter Scott to score Bracknell s fourth on the stroke of half time. Running half the length of the pitch, Holden cut inside with the ball and pulled it back for Scott to finish another well taken goal.
Any thoughts that Bracknell were content to sit on their four nil half time lead were quickly dispelled early in the second half when Peter Scott scored his second of the match. This time it was a great individual goal that saw Bracknell s young attacker notch with his favoured reverse stick strike.
At five nil, Bracknell became guilty of resting on their laurels. Sensing that the game was won, Bracknell s team drew a collective sigh and to a man, eased off. This allowed Gerrards Cross to craft out some decent chances of their own, and for a ten minute spell in the second half, a casual observer would have struggled to correctly identify the winning team. However, for all their attacking endeavour, they only produced one chance which seriously challenged the Bracknell keeper, but a smart save from Tom Withey kept Gerrards Cross goalless.
Bracknell then took control of the game once more, urged on by Ywain Martin who showed true leadership from the heart of the back four. They were rewarded with one more goal, a carbon copy of their first.
The final score was six nil, and Bracknell s accumulated results from the last three games now reads eighteen goals scored, and none conceded. An enviable record at any level of the game.
