Match Report: Bracknell Terriers the clubs development side secured their league championship with a five goal second half haul to overturn a half time deficit. Leighton Buzzard had no pressure on them at all, well and truly lodged in mid table obscurity, where as in the first half the Terriers wilted under the weight of their own expectation and the unseasonably hot weather. But the second half was a different story altogether and as soon as Peter Scott bagged the first goal, of what was to be a hat-trick, the balance of the play shifted to a point that Buzzard didn t threaten again. Skipper Neil Badley, scored the second from a penalty flick; then young Scott grabbed his second with his best finish of the game a superb strike off a sublime first touch; his third, Bracknell s fourth, came off the move of the game a neat midfield interchange saw Max Heaver spring the ball out wide, the ball was then moved at pace to Dave Scott, in his familiar right wing position, who drew the defence before slipping the ball to Peter Scott to net his 39th goal of the season. The scoring was rounded off by Sam Fox-Harvey who relieved skipper Badley of his penalty flick duties sending the keeper the wrong way from the spot.
Winning the League Championship to gain promotion has been a bonus to a team whose sole purpose is to develop young players in understanding how the game should be played; consequently how the game is played is more important than the result. In playing properly it has proved that the Terriers were the best team in the league; playing regularly against teams who had better individuals and beating them. Eyes have already turned to next season and the search has begun for new talent, 13 years or older, to replace the young players who will surely progress up the teams next season.
