Sixth clean sheet in seven games as Terriers bag a bargain three points on their trip to Bicester

South Berkshire Terriers delivered an emphatic display to bag four goals and three points, with a convincing win away at Bicester as they secured their 6th clean sheet in 7 games this season. The Terriers put in an excellent display, as they turned up the gas in the 2nd half to stretch away from a Bicester side that battled throughout but had no answer to the Terriers swift passing and attacking poise.

With long term injury victim Ian Wilson along to cheer from the sidelines, the Terriers followed a similar path as previous games, with an assured attacking display in the first half, but with the same challenge of allowing the opposition to easily to penetrate through midfield, where some tightening up was called for by captain Neil Badley in his half time talk. By that point, the Terriers were already one goal to the good, after Tony Heaver hammered in a perfectly placed strike from the top of the D after play had broken down after a penalty corner.

The second half saw the Terriers continue to attack with verve, whilst the midfield efforts of Tony Heaver and Ash Stratton ensured Bicester had few chances to place the Terriers backline under pressure. When they did, Marcus Bown was clearly determined to keep his 100% clean sheet record for the season as he confidently cleared when Bicester did get into the Terriers D. At the other end, the Terriers were advancing on the Bicester goal with the menace of harden bargain shoppers swarming the sales aisles at the local Bicester Outlet Village. Their lead was doubled within a minute of the restart when Ash Stratton picked up a ball that had flowed up to chest height , drove through the D and slotted it past the Bicester keeper. A third followed ten minutes later, as Robbie Campion capped yet another barnstorming display up front with a confident finish in front of goal.

Chances continued to come, with all the Terriers making their mark on the game. Youngsters Jack Barker, Dominic Harvey and Monty Neave all had their opportunity to use their skills and trickery to create opportunities, whilst Austin Jennings was unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal after an another composed display upfront where his movement and interlink play create numerous opportunities for the Terriers.

It was down to Dominic Harvey to add the fourth. With regular penalty corner striker Tony Heaver off the pitch, Dominic stepped up and threaded the needle with a dragflick which skimmed the inside of the left post, beyond the despairing dive of the Bicester keeper. A well deserved reward for Dominic and the whole Terriers team who always looked in control, and left the Bicester slide at times flustered and frustrated at not being able to break up the swift and assured waves of Terriers attacks.

A third win in a row, and another great display from the Terriers who not only showed a confident poise to their attacking play, but more importantly again demonstrated an ability to adapt and develop their game during the match. With injuries to a number of defenders, the clean sheet was particularly rewarding, and credit is due to captain Neil Badley and stand in central defender David Murray, whose combined wealth of experience ensured the Bicester forwards had a frustrating day.
