4. First Aid Reporting process


In the case of an injury.

Step 1) First aider should assess the injury and treat as appropriate (this will depend on the competence of the first aider, so may just involve calling an ambulance)

Step 2) The first aider to make a note of the
=> name of the injured individual
=> nature of injury
=> when was the injury (approx time / date)
=> what treatment given
=> name of 1st aider

Step 3) Complete this Online Injury Form which will send the information to the Welfare officer or complete this Offline Form - Injury Report and send to the Welfare Officer within 24 hours of the injury

Step 4) The captain should follow up with the individual to check their status within 24 hours

Step 5) The Welfare officer will maintain a record of the event

In the case of any head injury, please check the following which are indicative signs of concussion. If these are exhibited it is advised that the player should contact a medical professional and will not be allowed to play for at least 2 weeks until the symptoms disappear;-

· A headache or a feeling of pressure in the head
· Temporary loss of consciousness
· Confusion or feeling as if in a fog
· Memory loss surrounding the traumatic event
· Dizziness
· Ringing in the ears
· Nausea
· Vomiting
· Slurred speech
· Delayed response to questions
· Appearing dazed
· Double vision
· Fatigue
