Members of South Berkshire Hockey Club have been running hockey sessions for those who face barriers to participate in physical activity.

The next event is being held at Palmer Park, Reading on Friday 12th April where we will be running a hockey session again. Anyone who would like to help should contact Nigel King for information.

On Friday 16th February 2024, Sport Together Berkshire CIC held its first Festival of Inclusivity of the year at Reading FC Training Dome, hosted by Dan Rook Reading FC Community Trust and co-founder of STB CIC (providing multi-sports activities for adults and children with physical disabilities or learning or neuro diverse conditions, or anyone who faces barriers trying to take part in sport).

Supported by CH Rugby, Reading Rockets Community Team, Berkshire Cricket, South Berkshire Hockey Club, SecureCloud + represented by Tim & Morgan Bell, Absolute Mobility, Darren O’Connell and Sarah McCabe, a fantastic day of activities took place including Football, Rugby, Hockey, Cricket and multi sports activities; foam javelins, foam discus, huge parachute, inflatable dartboard and a play area set up by didi Rugby Reading for the younger superstars to have a go.

Thank you to members Jenny Jones, Dave Badger and Tom King for setting up hockey sessions supported by Helena Badger, Libby Hall, Shelby Dell, Peter Roan and Nigel King. Congratulations on running an engaging and successful session and representing the club at a great event!

Having previously held events at Palmer Park and Cantley Park in 2023, the event was the first of six events being held across Berkshire in 2024. This event was attended by over 120 participants, families, carers, volunteers, and organisers. It was wonderful to see everyone having a go at different sports, (some for the first time), supporting one another, having fun, and all coming away with huge smiles on their faces.

The next event is being held at Palmer Park, Reading on Friday 12th April where South Berks will be running a hockey session again. Anyone who would like to help should contact Nigel King for information.
