South Berkshire Hockey Club has a growing Walking Hockey programme, run by a qualified coach on Thursday mornings from 11:00 - 12:00 at Cantley Park and followed by a sociable coffee at the Cantley Park Café.
Walking Hockey is perfect for players who are looking for a less physically demanding version of the game but still enjoy using or learning new skills and being involved in the team and social aspect. The game is played as half pitch small-sided games, and otherwise resembles the hockey you know and love in every sense except the pace!
The walking hockey community at South Berks has grown to over 30 members now, and we hope to keep expanding in 26/27! Two tours even took place this Summer to Dublin and Stroud.
Walking Hockey is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle regardless of age, health and ability. Whether you are new to the sport, just not played for a while, or had to stop due to injuries or other reasons, Walking Hockey allows you to pick up a stick in a fun and relaxed environment with like-minded people.
Each session costs £5. Sticks will be available to use but players should provide their own shinpads.
