On Saturday South Berks Men’s 3s were away against Staines, looking for a win ahead of next weekends two fixtures.
The pitch defrosted just in time, and South Berks made a strong start (after the first pass from Mike which went straight off the pitch),putting Staines under pressure from the off. In what was a dominant first half performance the first goal came from a short corner, a drag flick into the bottom left corner from Alex. A penalty flick from Mike and a goal from Des put South Berks 3-0 up at half time. Staines had very few opportunities due to some great pressing and tackling.
In the second half South Berks looked to press home their dominance and continued playing great hockey. This half saw two great goals from Aaron. Another well worked short corner created a chance which Bear finished off, and a great goal at the back post got Richie on to the score sheet making it 7-0.
Chances came and went for South Berks, the post and the keeper limited the damage for Staines.
Staines were unable to find a consolation goal thanks to resolute defending. When called upon Thomas made a great double save late in the game.
A great performance by everyone.
Final score: 7-0
Goals: Aaron (2), Des, Mike, Bear, Richie, Alex
MOTM: Aaron - 2 goals, and lots of great positions
DOTD: Aaron - only 2 goals, horrendous jug avoidance (at least 3 times)
