After a slick and motivating warm-up from Bracknell 1’s they were ready to battle hard.
The whistle blew and the timer was on were Bracknell had numerous amount of shots at goal and pressed Wycombe’s defence repeatedly but still couldn’t score. Wycombe’s goalkeeper continued to stay focused and went to ground comfortable, making some excellent saves.
Half-time came and Bracknell had to rethink strategies of how they were going to score and keep Wycombe out of their D. Wycombe starting the second half strong and at times demonstrated some good movement going forward but Bracknell’s defence stayed secure and began to work the ball well in midfield. The goal came from an open play where Yellie Powley powered the ball in and Becky Peatfield got a stick on it, taking Bracknell to a 1-0 lead. Bracknell had to stay tight and maintained possession well for the last part of the game. Another opportunity came from Gemma Mclean where she used her quick pace to run through Wycombe’s defence, striking the ball cleanly, where the ball ended up in the back of the goal. However this was unfortunately denied by umpires as it was deemed to be hit from outside of the D area. Wycombe continued to hassle but Bracknell played the ball around well and controlled the game in the last few minutes in Wycombe’s 25, coming away with a good 1-0 win.
