Bracknell Ladies 1s v Milton Keynes score 2 - 1

Bracknell went into the game knowing only a win would do and started with high tempo - chasing and harassing Milton Keynes from the off. This intensity forced Milton Keynes into mistakes handing possession back to Bracknell time and again as they looked to press home this advantage. Mid way through the first half as Bracknell pressed high up the pitch, Dash Heaver won possession on the right wing driving forward before crossing in for Yellie Powley to hit first time into the goal. With the lead Bracknell looked to press home their advantage, unfortunately some great goalkeeping and missed opportunities meant they did not add to the score sheet for the remainder of the half.

The second half saw Bracknell start in the same vein, keeping Milton Keynes on the back foot. Despite some excellent hockey that delighted the crowd, Bracknell just could not find that second goal. This gave Milton Keynes confidence and just as they started to get back into the game Kath Coveney stole the ball on the half way line, beat 3 players before smashing the ball into the bottom corner for her first goal of the season. With a 2 goal lead the game looked to be heading for a comfortable win. However a well worked short corner from Milton Keynes saw them score and set up a nervous last 10 minutes. With some resolute defending and tireless running from Bracknell, they ensured that they held on for a well deserved win.
